Its official the Redstone update is this coming wednesday, March 13th, 2013. Redstone here we come!
Redstone Update Pre-Release is TOMORROW, as long as it goes well the official update should be next week. Cross your fingers.

Mojang has just released its first snapshot about the redstone update. If you are a redstone lover like me I am sure you will be excited.
Some of the new features in this snap shot are:
New Blocks:
Hopper:
Pulls fallen items on top of it into inventory blocks like chests or dispensers or minecart chests.
Trapped Chests:
Causes a redstone signal when opened.
Redstone Comparator:
Compares redstone signal strengths.
Daylight Sensor:
Emits a redstone signal if it is bright enough.
Weighted Pressure Plates
Sends out a redstone signal the strength depends on the weight of whats on top of it.
New Nether Quartz Ore:
Found in the Nether. If you mine it you will get a Nether Quartz,
Block of Redstone:
Acts like a torch but can be moved by pistons.
